FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long should I run my pool equipment?

We suggest your filter system run 6 to 8 hours per day. When water temperatures start to climb above 80° run the system 8 to 12 hours per day. Your pool must run during the heat of the day, especially during the warm months, to properly circulate water and keep everything running effectively.

Does my saltwater pool require any chlorine?

The nature of a saltwater system is that it actually converts ordinary salt into chlorine. There may be an occasion that you might need shock added to the water. Saltwater pools are a great option for those who are sensitive to chlorine. Chlorine generated pools, or “saltwater pools” have softer water and can be gentler on eyes, skin and hair.

How often do I need to clean my skimmers?

A dirty or clogged skimmer basket restricts water flow. If water can’t flow through your skimmer, your pool can’t circulate properly and that could cause problems down the road. If water is restricted the pump can overheat. Clean skimmer baskets daily, especially in the Spring and Fall when outside debris is especially heavy.

Why did my pool need a filter clean?

When the PSI for your pool jumps 10 or more PSI over starting pressure, your technician is advised to backwash your pool. If this is done twice and PSI continues to be high, a filter clean is necessary to keep your pool equipment functioning properly.

If there was an issue with debris shooting into your pool, as stated above, this would also be cause for a filter clean as it means something is not right with your filtration system.

What chemicals are included in regular service?

The following chemicals are included in regular service on an as needed basis - Sanitizer, tabs, DE for backwash, CYA, and acid.

How often does my pool need a filter clean?

Your pool may need cleaning between 1 and 4 times a year. Any more than that means there is an issue with your grids. If that is the case, we will contact you about repairs needed.

How does recurring billing work?

When you sign up for recurring billing, we will send you an ACH form to fill out with either your bank account information or debit/credit card information. We will automatically draft from whatever method of payment on file monthly. This automatic draft is for regular monthly pool service ONLY. We must have permission to run payment on any repairs or invoices outside of regular monthly service as a courtesy for our customers.

Do I still need to brush my pool?

Even though most pools are equipped with an automatic pool cleaner, most won’t scrub, especially not thoroughly. Brushing your pool can help remove algae or any other small particles from the pool’s surface for the other six days of the week our company is not there. This is not mandatory, but may be beneficial during the especially hot months.

How long should I wait to use my pool after a chemical shock treatment?

To stay on the safe side with chemical water treatments, we recommend using your pool eight to 12 hours after administering a treatment. Always check your software to see the amount of chemicals added to your pool that day, as the time can always be adjusted depending on how much/how little chemical was added.

My pool water is cloudy. What should I do?

There could be a few contributing factors that can lead to cloudy water. The most common causes are, inorganic contaminants, poor filtration, or possibly high pH and/or Alkalinity.

If debris is shooting out of your jets, causing a dirty/cloudy pool, that means there is an issue in the filtration system and it needs to be addressed immediately.

If this happens, please contact us ASAP. Your pool may also be cloudy shortly after being shocked by your pool technician. If the cloudiness has not dissipated within 24 hours, please contact the office so we can address what else is going on.

Why are there leaves/debris in my pool if my technician visited my pool today?

There are many factors that play into debris in your pool. For example; rain or storms, wind, lawn care, dogs, children, the season, etc. This is an excellent reason to utilize the software we use. That software offers you the opportunity to view photos time stamped from your visit to show we did clean your pool properly and that another outside factor might have come into play. We are happy to do an extra clean if needed for a fee.

Why is there so much debris in my pool? It was cleaned, serviced and covered!

You will get a fair amount of sediment from MOST cover over the winter from loose debris and storms. Your landscapers should be aware that when using a leaf blower they should not blow grass, leaves and other debris underneath or on top of the pool cover. Fertilizer is also a contributing factor in algae growth from the phosphates in the fertilizer. It is important to keep any and all fertilizer away from your pool or spa.

All of these can seep through a pool cover or underneath it and contribute to sediment, dirt, and debris in your pool when cover is removed.
